Some Stores Honor A Special Offer AFTER You Have Made Your Purchase

Most of us concerned with stretching our money use coupons of some sort. There are many stores that mail out special offer coupons such as “$10 off $50 purchase” or “$25 off $250 purchase” or special gift cards to draw you into a store. You never want to use any of these offers just because they are sent to you, but if you need to make a purchase, it certainly comes in handy to have one.

What you might not know is that many of these stores will honor the offer AFTER you have already made your purchase. Twice, I have purchased something at a home improvement store and gone home and received an offer in the mail the next week or received an advertisement where the item I had just purchased had been put on sale. The store I frequent the most has a 30 day policy of honoring their offers. In other words, within 30 days, if you return to the store with your receipt, the coupon or the advertisement, they will credit the difference back to you.

If you keep your receipts, know the store policies and watch for offers within a period where they will be honored, it can add up to quite a bit of money.FEMA_-_22763_-_Photograph_by_Robert_Kaufmann_taken_on_03-03-2006_in_Louisiana

  1. That is pretty neat! I had no idea that any stores would honor those coupons on a purchase made before you even got the coupon in the mail. I’ve been couponing since I was old enough to say “coupon”, so that’s saying something. Thanks for the heads up! 🙂
